Curfew Privacy Policy

Curfew ("the App," "we," "our," or "us") is a self-directed screen time tool that helps you set boundaries around app usage during hours you choose. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how it is used, and the choices you have.
By using Curfew, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your email address and a securely hashed password (via Supabase Authentication) to let you sign in and sync your settings across devices.
Usage & Streak Data
To power the streak tracking and stats features, we store:
- Timestamps of when you override a block (the "Continue anyway" friction flow)
- Your current and best streak counts
- The number of nights you've successfully kept your risk-hour commitment
App Settings
We store your configured risk hours (start/end time), your chosen mode (Hard Block or Friction), and related preferences, so they sync across your devices.
Region / Locale
We detect your device's region automatically (e.g., to show regionally relevant food-delivery app suggestions) using your device's locale settings. This is inferred locally on-device from standard iOS locale data — we do not collect GPS location or precise location data.
What We Do NOT Collect
We do not know which specific apps you have selected to monitor. App selection is handled entirely through Apple's native Screen Time picker (FamilyActivityPicker). Apple's system is deliberately designed so that the exact identities of the apps and categories you choose are never exposed to Curfew or any third party — not even to us. We only know how many apps you've selected (e.g., "1 app"), never which ones.
We do not collect:
- Your browsing history or in-app activity within monitored apps
- Your precise/GPS location
- Contacts, photos, or other personal device data unrelated to the App's core function
- Payment or financial information (handled by Apple, if/when in-app purchases are introduced)
How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above solely to:
- Authenticate your account and sync your settings across your devices
- Calculate and display your streak and usage statistics
- Apply your configured risk hours and blocking mode
- Improve the reliability of the App (e.g., diagnosing bugs in how overrides and streaks are recorded)
We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not build behavioral or advertising profiles from it.
Data Storage & Security
Your account and usage data is stored using Supabase, a third-party backend infrastructure provider, with industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to the underlying database is restricted and protected by row-level security policies scoped to your own account.
Apple's Screen Time / Family Controls data (your specific app selections and on-device shielding state) is managed entirely by iOS and stored within Apple's sandboxed, on-device App Group container — it is never transmitted to our servers.
Third-Party Services
Curfew currently uses:
- Supabase — for account authentication and storing your settings, streak, and usage data.
- Apple's Screen Time / Family Controls framework — for on-device app blocking; governed by Apple's own privacy practices for this framework.
We do not currently integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. We do not share your data with third parties except:
- As required to operate the App (e.g., our backend infrastructure provider, Supabase, strictly as a data processor)
- If required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Curfew, our users, or others
If our data practices materially change in the future (for example, if we begin sharing aggregated, anonymized data for research purposes), we will update this policy and, where required, seek your consent before doing so.
Your Rights & Choices
You can:
- Edit or remove your monitored app selection at any time in Settings, through Apple's native picker
- Turn off Screen Time access at any time via iOS Settings, which disables blocking entirely
- Request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at the email below
- Request a copy of the data we hold about you by contacting us at the email below
Children's Privacy
Curfew is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or by other reasonable means. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
